AI content is everywhere, there’s no denying. But does AI-generated content hold the same sway over audience as human generated content? No, it definitely does not. AI is ill-equipped to understand emotions, humor, sarcasm and morals. Yes, AI has made impressive strides in content generation, there's something fundamentally irreplaceable about a story told by a human being.
The uniqueness of human voice
Human storytelling, specifically great storytelling resonates with people because it has tapped into their human experience. Humans innately connect with characters that reflect the challenges that they recognize and emotions that are understandable. AI, for all its analysing and processing prowess is unable to effectively to understand and translate human emotions into words. It can analyze stories, but it can't capture the subtle details, the triumphs and heartbreaks that shape a human life.
The flame of imagination and authenticity
AI can reword, rephrase and remix existing data. Whereas, a skilled writer can weave an entrancing narrative from the bare minimum details on the fly. They are able to cater to human emotions, by crafting stories that respond to audience cues or unexpected turn of situations. Can we expect all of this from AI tools? We can’t! End of the day AI is a tool; a tool is as good as the person wielding it. Only when a person maintains the tool, keeps honing it (training the LLM) can it be useful. Even then can we expect a butter knife to do the job of a serrated knife? It’s not made for the purpose and thus can’t do a good job at that. Similarly, AI is limited by its programming. It can't react to the unpredictable energy of a live audience or the subtle nuances of human interaction.
Collaboration is the key, not competition
AI is a power tool for humans, not the replacement. It can help us generate good ideas, generate decent first drafts and even help us with translating storing across different languages. The future of storytelling lies in collaboration, where human creativity is enhanced by the power of AI.
